Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as an expert in Immigration & Nationality Law, Matthew Myers has over a decade of experience practicing inbound U.S. and outbound global immigration law, with a focus on employment and investor immigration. He has been regularly recognized as a Top Attorney in Immigration Law by Austin Monthly Magazine, Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for Immigration Law, and Super Lawyers and The Scene in S.A. Magazine as a Rising Star for Immigration Law.

Matthew served as likely the youngest Chair in the history of the State Bar of Texas Immigration & Nationality Law Section, after which he was appointed by the President of the State Bar of Texas to serve as Vice Chair of the Committee on Laws Relating to Immigration and Nationality. He is an active member of the San Antonio Bar Association as a past Chair of the International Law Section and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) on the Global Migration Section. Matthew also serves as the AILA Liaison to U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Laredo, TX, the largest U.S. land border Port of Entry.

Prior to starting Myers Immigration Law, Matthew handled a high volume of inbound U.S. and outbound global immigration matters, working with individuals, entrepreneurs, investors, startups, Fortune 100 companies, and high net worth individuals as an attorney with one of the largest international immigration law firms for the better part of a decade.

Before being admitted to the bar, Matthew interned with Catholic Charities of Dallas in their Immigration & Legal Services Department, Chief United States District Judge Orlando L. Garcia for the Western District of Texas, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Office of Chief Counsel, including at the Texas Service Center in Dallas and Field Office in Irving, Texas. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Spanish graduating magna cum laude from Austin College and his Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor Law School, where he received the distinction of Public Interest Fellow and was the first graduate of its Leadership Development program.

  • January 2025 – Presented to the Texas Forum of International Tax in Austin in English and then the Asociacion Amigos de Colombia in San Antonio in Spanish on the anticipated impact to the U.S. immigration system of the Trump Administration based upon past experience.
  • November 2024 – Breakfast presentation on “U.S. Immigration for International Professionals and Entrepreneurs” to the Harvard Business Club of San Antonio.
  • October 2024 – Sponsored a delegation from San Antonio, led by the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos San Antonio and Tech Bloc, to present on business immigration strategies for expansion to the U.S. to the local Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos Mexico City (CDMX) Chapter and COPAMEX.
  • September 2024 – Traveled with a delegation including the Mayor of San Antonio, GreaterSATX, Alamo Colleges, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos San Antonio, and Tech Bloc to encourage greater collaboration from a cultural and business perspective between San Antonio and Queretaro, Mexico.
  • July 2024 – Invited by the Mexican Consulate in Brownsville to present “Visados” about entrepreneurial immigration strategies as part of their fifth annual Consular Entrepreneurship Program for Mexican Women Abroad (PCEME) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) eBridge Center for Business & Commercialization.
  • June 2024 – Traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico, to present on business immigration as part of a panel with an Amegy banker and a CPA on how to establish a business in the U.S. to a group of over 70 Mexican entrepreneurs and professionals, with a delegation of organizations from San Antonio, including the Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos (AEM), Tech Bloc, Alamo Angels, Geekdom, and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

  • April 2024 – Invited by the Pharr Economic Development Corporation to present on a panel with a cross-border corporate lawyer and an international CPA about expanding primarily import/export businesses from Mexico to Pharr, TX.
  • February 2024 – Presented three times on U.S. student, graduate, and business immigration at the University of the Incarnate Word with tailored presentations to local employers, international students, and at a conference of Designated School Officials and International Office representatives.
  • November 2023 – Traveled with the Pharr Economic Development Foundation and various stakeholders from South Texas to present to Mexican investors and entrepreneurs in Mexico City, Mexico, on the U.S. immigration considerations associated with establishing a business in the United States.
  • November 2023 – Presented a “TN Visa Workshop” focusing on the U.S. immigration options and practical tips for international students from Canada and Mexico attending the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas, and its Mexico campuses in Bajio and Mexico City.
  • September 2023 – Represented the State Bar of Texas Immigration & Nationality Law Section and presented on Trade NAFTA (TN) visas at a NAFTA 2.0 Conference at Hacienda de los Morales in Mexico City, Mexico.
